Community Outreach

Brandon Christian Church reaches out to Greater Brandon with the following programs and affiliations

Meals on Wheels

Every Thursday morning volunteers gather in the kitchen to prepare delicious, hot meals for 35 to 40 folks who are Meals on Wheels recipients. These meals are delivered with warmth by our volunteer drivers who enjoy keeping in touch and sharing Christ's love with each visit.

Equal Exchange

We are using and selling Equal Exchange fairly traded coffee, chocolate, and olive oil. We now only use Equal Exchange coffee for our church activities. Church folks can purchase fairly traded products during fellowship or by stopping in during office hours.

We know that this builds stronger farming communities, creates a more equitable trade model, and preserves our planet through sustainable farming methods.

Family Promise

Family Promise

We are an active partner with Family Promise of Greater Brandon to help homeless children and their families within our community to achieve lasting independence and escape the cycle of poverty.

Families are temporarily housed in community churches, including Brandon Christian Church, with meals provided. With the help of a professional Social Worker and others, these homeless families will find jobs and housing.

Brandon Christian Curch provides food, lodging, support, and fellowship for these families one week every quarter.

The Emergency Care Help Organization of Brandon provides a variety of assistance programs for those living in our area. Our Congregation helps by providing non-perishable items for their food pantry.

Brandon Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) offers direct help of a small gift of cash or gift cards for gas and groceries to those in immediate need.

This  ministry is supported by donations to it from church members, and helped over 100 people in 2019. In order to serve the most people possible, and because it is meant to be emergency assistance we limit the radius to 10 miles and individuals to $50 per year.

The Brandon Christian Church facilities provide meeting space for 2 other congregations and 22 community groups and 12-step programs that meet regularly
